From early 2025, we’re opening our first U.S. office in Los Angeles, bringing over 20 years of education staffing expertise from the UK and Australia to American schools. Established in London in 2001, Tradewind is the partner of choice for thousands of teachers and schools, delivering quality staffing solutions across the UK. Now, we’re excited to offer the same high standards of service to schools and educators in the United States.

Tradewind Subs may be new to American shores, but I’m very pleased to say we’ve been successfully helping schools staff their classrooms and educators find jobs since 2001, when we first opened our doors in London.
Los Angeles will be our 20th location worldwide and although we’re very proud of our history to date, it really does feel like this is just the beginning as we bring our service to schools across America; a service that keeps the child in the classroom at the forefront of everything we do - as nothing matters more.
I have been fortunate to work for Tradewind since 2010 and have seen first-hand the difference a company like this, built on core values of honesty, trust and investing in relationships, can make to the educational landscape. It’s an honour to be the person tasked with bringing our offering to the United States.

Typically, schools will need to hire substitute staff on a daily basis for essential cover when sickness strikes or emergencies occur. This can range from covering 1 day or a few days (depending on the precise situation).
Any placement that is more than a day, but less than 3 weeks is classed as a short-term role. This kind of placement usually comes about when a school needs to get cover for short-term sickness or emergencies.
Any assignment longer than 3 weeks is classed as a long-term role. This usually comes about when a school needs to get cover for long-term sickness or parental leave, or if they are considering hiring for a new role and are trialling the position with a view to make it permanent.
