Behavior Tools

This section provides practical, ready-to-use tools to support positive classroom behavior and student engagement.

ABC Behavior Chart

An ABC Behavior Chart helps adults track the Antecedent (what happened before), Behavior (what the student did), and Consequence (what happened after). This tool is used to identify patterns in behavior, determine possible functions, and guide intervention strategies.

Academic Activity Choice Board

An Academic Choice Board gives students a menu of learning activities that meet the same academic objective but in different ways (e.g., reading, drawing, hands-on practice). It encourages student voice and choice, which boosts engagement and reduces off-task behavior.

Brain Break Choice Board

This board provides students with options for short, structured breaks (e.g., stretching, drawing, listening to music). It helps students regulate emotions, refocus their energy, and return to learning tasks with more success.

First/Then Board

The First/Then Board is a simple visual that shows students what task must be completed first, followed by a preferred activity or reward. It uses the Premack Principle to increase motivation and cooperation, especially for non-preferred tasks.

Token Board

A Token Board provides a visual way for students to earn tokens (stickers, stars, points) for displaying desired behaviors. Once a set number of tokens are earned, the student exchanges them for a larger reward. It promotes consistency, positive reinforcement, and goal-setting.
