Tradewind Subs - Teacher's Aide

Employees Covered: Teacher's Aides, Campus Aides, Operational Aides, Paraprofessionals, and related support staff
Pay: Hourly pay rate - $22-24
Schedule: On-call, part-time, or full-time as needed based on school needs
Primary Purpose
Tradewind Subs Teacher's Aides provide temporary classroom, instructional, and student support services to K-12 schools. Teacher's Aides assist classroom teachers and school staff when additional instructional, behavioral, supervisory, or student support is needed. Staff are employed by Tradewind Subs and placed at client schools throughout Los Angeles County.
Essential Duties
Classroom Support & Supervision
- Assist teachers with daily classroom activities, routines, and instructional support.
- Supervise students during instructional time, recess, lunch, and transitions.
- Help maintain a safe, orderly, and positive classroom environment.
- Support classroom behavior using school-approved strategies and positive reinforcement.
- Prepare, organize, and distribute classroom materials as directed by the teacher.
Student Support & Accommodations
- Provide one-on-one or small-group academic and classroom support.
- Assist students with disabilities or behavioral needs in accordance with IEPs, 504 Plans, or applicable school plans.
- Support English language learners and other specialized student populations.
- Help students with classroom routines, organization, assignments, and appropriate participation.
- Provide assistance with student needs within the scope of training and school-site expectations.
Safety & Compliance
- Monitor student safety throughout the classroom and campus, including playground, arrival, dismissal, and transition periods.
- Comply with all mandated reporting obligations under California law.
- Follow school emergency procedures and all applicable district, charter, and school-site policies.
- Maintain student confidentiality and comply with FERPA and applicable child-safety laws.
- Report safety concerns, injuries, behavioral incidents, or other significant student concerns to designated school staff.
Administrative & Communication Tasks
- Communicate student progress, classroom concerns, and observations to the designated teacher or school staff.
- Assist with classroom documentation and school-required records.
- Complete timesheets, incident reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
- Follow directions from teachers, administrators, and designated school personnel.
Physical Requirements
The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to bend, stand, walk, and move around a classroom or campus for extended periods.
- Ability to lift or assist students, materials, or equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to supervise and respond quickly to student needs in outdoor or high-activity environments.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Pre-Employment Requirements
All candidates must satisfy the following requirements before placement at any school site:
- DOJ/FBI Live Scan fingerprint clearance, as required under California Education Code §44237.
- Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment or test, as required under California Education Code §49406.
- Valid work authorization / I-9 documentation.
- Verification of applicable credentials, permits, or certifications, when required for the assignment.
- Minimum of six (6) months of recent experience working with children or adolescents in an educational, childcare, coaching, mentoring, tutoring, or youth development setting.
