Job Summary

Tradewind Subs is seeking Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) to support schools throughout the Los Angeles area. This role is ideal for licensed and credentialed professionals who are passionate about helping students develop effective communication skills and succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

School-based SLPs will provide speech and language assessments, therapy, and intervention services; implement services outlined in student IEPs; monitor student progress; and collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and related service providers to support student success.

Essential Responsibilities

Speech & Language Services

• Provide speech, language, and communication services to students based on their individual needs and IEP goals.
• Conduct appropriate screenings, assessments, evaluations, and observations to identify students' communication needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with IEP goals and educational objectives.
• Provide direct and/or consultative speech and language services in individual, small-group, classroom, or other appropriate settings.
• Adapt therapy strategies, materials, and activities to meet diverse student learning and communication needs.
• Support students with articulation, receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice, social communication, and other communication needs within the scope of practice.

IEP & Student Support

• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute professional recommendations regarding speech and language services.
• Implement speech and language goals, accommodations, and services outlined in student IEPs.
• Monitor and document student progress toward established goals.
• Communicate student progress and recommendations to teachers, administrators, families, and other members of the educational team.
• Collaborate with special education teachers, general education teachers, paraprofessionals, psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other related service providers.

Collaboration & School Support

• Work collaboratively with school staff to support students' academic, social, and functional communication needs.
• Provide consultation and strategies to teachers and school staff to promote communication development across educational settings.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and student support discussions as appropriate.
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with students, families, school personnel, and service providers.

Documentation, Compliance & Confidentiality

• Maintain accurate and timely records of evaluations, therapy sessions, progress, IEP services, and other required documentation.
• Complete required reports, service logs, timesheets, and other administrative documentation.
• Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Comply with applicable California laws, regulations, school policies, district requirements, and Tradewind Subs procedures.
• Follow established safety and emergency procedures.
• Comply with all applicable mandated reporting requirements under California law.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout classrooms and school campuses as needed.
• Ability to work with students in a variety of educational settings, including classrooms and therapy spaces.
• Ability to assist or physically support students when required by the assignment and in accordance with applicable safety procedures.
• Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements before placement at a school site:

• Valid California Speech-Language Pathology license issued by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board, as applicable to the assignment.
• Appropriate school-based authorization, credential, permit, or other required qualification for the assignment, as applicable.
• Verification of applicable licenses, credentials, permits, and certifications.
• DOJ/FBI Live Scan fingerprint clearance, as required under California Education Code §44237.
• Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment or test, as required under California Education Code §49406.
• Valid employment authorization and required I-9 documentation.
• Ability to meet all applicable school, district, charter school, and Tradewind Subs requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Speech-Language Pathologist in a K-12 school setting.
• Experience providing speech and language services to students with disabilities.
• Experience developing and implementing IEP goals and participating in IEP meetings.
• Experience conducting speech and language assessments and writing evaluation reports.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary educational teams.
• Strong communication, organization, documentation, and collaboration skills.
