Job Summary
Tradewind Subs is seeking Early Childhood Education Specialist Teacher to support schools throughout the Los Angeles area. This role is ideal for credentialed educators who are passionate about supporting students with disabilities and creating safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments.
Special Education Teachers will provide standards-based instruction, implement IEP accommodations and modifications, support student behavior and development, and collaborate with school staff to promote student success.
Essential Responsibilities
Special Education Instruction
- Deliver standards-based instruction aligned with lesson plans, IEP goals, and district curriculum.
- Provide specialized academic instruction to students with mild, moderate, or extensive support needs.
- Adapt instructional materials, activities, and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Support students in achieving academic, behavioral, and developmental goals.
Student Support & IEP Implementation
- Implement accommodations, modifications, and behavior support plans outlined in student IEPs.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, teachers, administrators, and other school staff.
- Monitor student progress and communicate relevant observations to permanent school personnel.
- Provide individualized support based on student needs and established school procedures.
Classroom Management & Supervision
- Maintain a structured, safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Supervise students during instruction, recess, lunch, transitions, and other assigned activities.
- Use positive behavior intervention strategies consistent with school and district expectations.
- Establish clear expectations and maintain appropriate classroom routines.
Safety, Compliance & Confidentiality
- Ensure student safety and follow established emergency procedures.
- Comply with all mandated reporting requirements under California law.
- Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Follow all applicable school, district, charter school, and Tradewind Subs policies and procedures.
Administrative & Communication Duties
- Complete attendance records, timesheets, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, service providers, and support staff.
- Provide relevant information regarding student needs, classroom activities, and incidents as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to bend, stand, walk, and move throughout classrooms and school campuses for extended periods.
- Ability to assist or physically support students when required by the assignment and in accordance with applicable safety procedures.
- Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements before placement at a school site:
- Valid California Early Education Specialist Teaching Credential or appropriate authorization for the assignment.
- Required English Learner (EL) authorization, as applicable to the assignment.
- Verification of applicable credentials, permits, and certifications.
- DOJ/FBI Live Scan fingerprint clearance, as required under California Education Code §44237.
- Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment or test, as required under California Education Code §49406.
- Valid employment authorization and required I-9 documentation.
- Ability to meet all applicable school, district, charter, and Tradewind Subs requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities in a K-12 school setting.
- Experience implementing IEP accommodations and modifications.
- Experience supporting students with diverse academic, behavioral, and developmental needs.
- Strong communication, classroom management, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to creating inclusive and supportive learning environments.
